- Lend Me Your Ear
Poor Vincent. So much genius and so little mental health care. You'll learn a lot about that poor, tortured soul in this excellent chronicle of his tragic, yet extraordinary life.
- Inspirational
This collection of vignettes of folks who stood tall for their beliefs is inspiring.
- Where Ya Headed?
This rich story plunks you right into Rome, with Nero and burgeoning Christianity as the backdrop. Sprinkle in some romance, tragedy and political intrigue, and there you go. That's where. Loved it.
- Like Comics for "Grown-Ups"
The older set will remember the irreverence of Mad Magazine when paging through this guilty pleasure of silliness. Although you won't get any closer to winning your Nobel Prize by spending time on this, you will have fun. I sure did.
- Classic Oater
This quick read has been around for a long time--if you've watched the Netflix series, "Godless", you'll find a hint of this in there. So good you'll be calling his name at the end, too.
- A Hole in One
If Rick Reilly wrote a book about statistics of the GNP, it'd somehow be funny and readable. (Sorry all you econ nerds out there--I'm just not cut of your cloth.) If you want an enjoyable, easy read, pick this up. Loved it.
- Ohmmmm . . .
This little book is strangely intriguing. The stories are light but the wisdom is deep, and can effortlessly transfer to other beliefs than Buddhism. Seems that the rules of being a good person transcend cultures and faiths. Whaddya know?
- Another Hit
Buckle up and get ready for the ride, because Amy Tan never fails.
- Another Great Saga by Steinbeck
Nobody wrote like this guy. A memorable book.
- I'm a Wanderer
Well, I read this during my J.D. Salinger phase, but felt that unlike C.I.T.R., this one wandered around without landing anywhere. Just my opinion, and I'm probably revealing myself as a classless dope, but not my fave.
- Moving
A poignant portrayal of small-town life during WWII. The main character faces tragedy each day as a telegraph messenger, growing up far too soon.
- Need I Review?
This is such a classic and pretty much everybody knows about good old Holden and his antics and observations. Only years after reading did I learn that J.D. was a complete weirdo who ignored his daughter horribly.
